Orthodontic Treatment and Braces

Braces attach to each tooth and use gentle force to guide your teeth into a more favorable position, improving your bite and the appearance of your smile. It is a great way to enhance your beautiful smile. Familia can provide you with both conventional braces as well as Invisalign. Invisalign is a different type of straightening system, involving a series of custom-made, clear aligners created specifically for you.

We are committed to making dental care affordable and accessible to everyone. When you choose Familia Dental for orthodontic treatment, you enjoy:

  • 0% interest financing

A Typical Orthodontic Treatment with Familia

We're thrilled that you want to find out more about taking the first step to having a better smile. The following is what you can expect from a typical orthodontic treatment with Familia:

1. Consultation

Familia Dental offers an initial no commitment orthodontic consultation to all patients. During your first visit an oral exam will be conducted. Our staff may take x-rays, photos and a model of your teeth. Upon completion of the oral exam, our orthodontist will discuss with you his findings. Based on the diagnosis, the orthodontist will discuss in detail your treatment options. The orthodontist will also advise what to expect with treatment, fully explaining the process and answering any questions you may have.

In some cases, you may begin treatment the same day as the consultation.

2. Banding and Bracketing

During this visit, we may take additional records using our oral scanner to ensure that we have the most accurate treatment data. At future appointments we will periodically take additional records in order to track your treatment progress.

At your second visit, Familia Dental will require that you sign consent forms for service, and the contract for payment, if necessary. If not, we will begin the banding and bracketing process at the second appointment. Should any special appliances be required for your treatment plan, they will be installed at this appointment. It will be necessary for parents to be present at all appointments if the patient being treated is under 18.

3. Scope of Treatment

Your treatment will continue with follow-up appointments required to make adjustments to the braces, straightening the teeth over time. Treatment timelines will range, generally between 12 and 32 months, depending on the plan prescribed by your orthodontist. At the end of the treatment your orthodontist will complete the de-banding and de-bracketing process, enabling you to see the final results of your treatment! At this visit, you will also be prescribed a retainer to maintain teeth placement and a straight smile.

4. The Big Reveal

Congratulations! You have reached the end of your orthodontic treatment and have a confident, healthier smile!

What if I want Invisalign?

Invisalign is a system of clear, removable trays, or aligners, that are used to straighten teeth. The process for lnvisalign is very similar to that of braces. Your orthodontist will conduct an exam and discuss with you a plan for treatment. The length of treatment will be discussed with you and will be based on your individual treatment plan. With lnvisalign you will receive a set of clear aligners to place on your teeth, instead of metal banding and brackets as with traditional braces. The clear aligners will discreetly change the positioning of your teeth. Most people will receive sets of aligners which are worn for two weeks at a time. Following the completion of treatment you will receive a retainer to keep your teeth straight.
