your insurance plan will benefit your health greatly if you take full advantage of it.

The main components of most insurance plans are:

Co-pay
A co-pay is the amount your insurance provider will require you to pay for each visit. The amount can differ with each individual plan and provider, and it is usually a set amount.

Deductible
Deductibles are the amounts that your insurance provider will require you to pay. It is usually a set percentage of the total cost of care.

Care Coverage
Care coverage is what your insurance provider will cover for a particular procedure.

Patient Responsibility
The patient responsibility is the cost that occurs when the sum total of the deductible and care coverage does not fully cover the cost of a procedure.

care categories

Insurance companies generally define dental care by three categories of care. These categories can determine what your insurance will cover and what you will pay out of pocket.

Diagnostic and Preventative Care – Class I
Diagnostic care serves to identify any existing areas of concern in your mouth. Our dentists can outline a personalized strategy of diagnostic care for you. Diagnostic care includes exams and digital X-rays. Our digital X-rays use up to 80% less radiation than traditional X-rays. Both of these procedures are quick, easy and painless. Visit the dentist as soon as possible to receive diagnostic care, especially if you start to have concerns about your oral health.

Along with dental cleanings, many plans will fully cover preventive care, the cornerstone of protecting your smile. Preventive care includes essentials such as fluoride treatments, a coating to protect the enamel of your teeth, and sealants, a procedure which protects undamaged teeth. Preventive care is quick and can prevent future complications in your oral health.

Components Applied: Co-Pay, Care Coverage

Basic Procedures – Class II
Simple procedures such as single extractions and fillings, in many cases, are covered by most insurance plans. These procedures may incur out-of-pocket fees. These fees are the patient’s responsibility.

Components Applied: Co-Pay, Deductible, Care Coverage, Patient Responsibility

Major Procedures – Class III
The last category covers major procedures. This includes braces, bridges, dentures and other more complicated procedures. These procedures will generally have a co-pay and, depending on your personalized plan of care, may not be fully covered by your insurance plan.

Components Applied: Co-Pay, Deductible, Care Coverage, Patient Responsibility
