More than 100 cars packed with moms, dads, and their kids, showed up for the Kenosha Community Baby Shower on May 16th in anticipation of a socially distanced event with educational opportunities, prizes, and giveaways of necessary baby supplies.

Familia Dental and Molina Healthcare partnered for the first time in Kenosha to put this event together. Nine other organizations made donations, including Jockey Int., Kenosha Community Health Center, and WIC.

While this is the first Community Baby Shower organized in Kenosha, Familia Dental has partnered with managed care organization MeridianHealth in Illinois to put together similar events.

Community members have come out in large numbers to participate in the drive-in Community Showers organized by Familia Dental, who continues to seek opportunities to drive health awareness and social responsibility in their communities.

“I was so surprised that there was an event like this out there,” said a Kenosha mother who won a raffle prize at the Community Baby Shower. “It is so nice, and I’m just so thankful. I cannot wait for the next event.”

Local organizations donated five-pack n plays, three car seats, six gift baskets for families to win as raffle prizes.

The event also featured various presentations from local healthcare professionals. Presentation topics included mental health, oral hygiene for moms and babies, vaccines and prenatal care, health tips for families, and nutrition.

“Though it was hot that day, the presentations were a good length, entertaining, and the giveaways were appreciated.”

Local high school students volunteered at the Community Baby Shower. Students assisted by handing out diaper bags donated by Molina Healthcare to every mother so that everyone would walk away with a Baby Shower gift. Those diaper bags came packed with hand sanitizer, wipes, masks, lotion, books, and baby formula.

In addition, Keeping Families Covered, a partner organization in Kenosha, handed out almost 7,000 diapers, 100 cans of formula, 173 books, 15 baby carriers, 15 car seat covers, six strollers, and two bouncers.

“We are truly making a lasting impact and a difference in the lives of our community members,” says Leslie Brewer, CMO at Familia Dental.
